Our Mission

This isn’t about a ballot in November—it’s about the laws already shaping your life today, tomorrow, and next week.

Politicians hide behind jargon and confusion. They twist words so a “yes” can secretly mean “no.” They count on you not to notice.

Ballot Beacon calls out the BS—no slant, no spin. Just clear facts you can read in minutes.

We break down new state and federal laws into quick bullet points: who voted for it, who profits, and what it really costs you.

Because it doesn’t matter what side you’re on—we all live under the same rules. The better we understand them, the better choices we make.

What’s on the Horizon

  1. Florida- Smartphone Restrictions in Schools

Lawmakers are advancing proposals that would require public schools to restrict or ban student cellphone use during instructional hours. Some versions require phones to be stored in locked pouches or lockers during the school day. Supporters argue it improves focus and mental health, while critics question enforcement and parental communication limits. Several districts are already piloting restrictions ahead of possible statewide standards.

  2. Texas- Expanded Border Enforcement Authority

Texas lawmakers continue to push legislation that expands state-level authority to arrest and remove migrants crossing the border illegally. The proposal would give state officers powers traditionally handled by federal immigration authorities. Legal challenges are expected over federal supremacy and constitutional authority if expanded enforcement moves forward.

  3. Arizona- Stricter Proof-of-Citizenship Voting Requirements

Arizona legislators are debating tighter proof-of-citizenship standards for voter registration, including additional documentation requirements for certain voters. Supporters say it strengthens election integrity, while opponents argue it could restrict lawful voter access. Courts have previously weighed in on similar Arizona laws, so further litigation is likely if new measures pass.

Fun Facts

Quirky Fact #1: In Tennessee, It’s illegal to shoot wildlife from a moving vehicle

Tennessee law makes it illegal to hunt or shoot wildlife from a motor vehicle.
Yes, that includes while driving. Yes, someone had to make that rule explicit. The statute exists to prevent road hunting and unsafe firearm use from vehicles. So if anyone was planning a drive-by deer scenario, the state has already thought of you.

Quirky Fact #2: In Alabama, You can’t drive blindfolded

Alabama law specifically prohibits operating a vehicle while blindfolded.
Not “reckless driving.” Not “unsafe operation.” It literally spells out blindfolds. Which suggests that at some point, someone thought this was a reasonable life choice.
